COVID-19 AND THE GYM

In March of 2020, AcroSport Gymnastics closed it's doors in order to protect the health and safety of our staff and families, as the worldwide pandemic we know as COVID-19 began to take it's ugly course.  After 4 months of diligent work and cooperation from our government, and local community (and a very DEEP clean of our facilities!), AcroSport reopened it's doors on June 8th with a vigilant plan to get back to what we do best - Gymnastics!

PLEASE PRACTICE THE FOLLOWING THE PREVENT THE SPREAD OF COVID-19

1) Wash hands frequently with soap and warm water

2) Practice social distancing of at least 6' whenever possible

3) Wear a mask when you are in the gym and around others

4) Cover your coughs and sneezes

5) Monitor your health and stay home if your not feeling well

Reopening Plan

Red Phase Guidelines

*Effective as of June 8th

In this phase, we will begin to introduce teams back into the gym on modified hours, and training regimens.  Workouts will focus on re-establishing excellent basics, and spotting will remain minimal.  Groups will start at no more than 6 athletes with 1 coach, and there will be 30-minutes in between groups to sanitize common areas.  These include the entrance door area, lobby, bathrooms, and exit door area.  As we progress through the Red Phase, group sizes will be allowed to increase to up to 12 students, pending that social distancing guidelines can be safely met.

During training time in the gym, athletes will be stationed at least 6' apart.  Coaches will wear a mask when social distancing is not possible, or when they need to come within 6' of a gymnast for corrections or spotting.  Athletes will be required to wear a mask when entering, and leaving the building.  However, they will NOT be required to wear masks when on the gym floor.  After each athlete has completed using a piece of equipment, it will be sanitized before the next athlete can use it.

Workout durations will need to be shortened in order to ease athletes back in, adjust for lower numbers, and also allow for all groups to be able to get their workouts in throughout the day, and still stay in compliance with maximum occupancy numbers set forth by the town.

Red Phase Safety Policies & Procedures

  • There will be designated entrances and exits to and from the building.  The new entrance will be the side door next to the floor area.  The designated exit door will be the front glass door.

  • Before being allowed to enter the building, students and staff must undergo a wellness check.  This includes having their temp taken, sanitizing hands, and asking if the individual has experienced any of the following symptoms in the last 24 hours:

    • Fever

    • Body Aches

    • Sore Throat

    • Couch

    • Loss of Taste or Smell

  • If the individual has a fever of 99.5 or higher, or f they have exhibited any of the above symptoms in the last 24 hours, they will be asked to go home.  If a staff member is exhibiting symptoms, they will be sent home and their practice cancelled immediately.  No substitutions of coaches in the Red Phase will be permitted in order to allow for accurate contact tracing if necessary.

  • Once athletes have passed their wellness check, they should place their shoes inside their gym bag, and head to a designated spot on the floor with their belongings and await further instructions from a coach.  NOTE:  Gym bags will remain with gymnasts throughout the entire practice.

  • No parents will be permitted inside the gym.  Parents should drop their athletes off at the entrance at the start of practice, and pick them up at the exit door at the end of practice.  Coaches will supervise drop off and pick up times.

  • While at practice, students should observe the one way and social distancing markers throughout the gym

Yellow Phase Guidelines

*Effective as of September 1st

During this phase, we will begin to welcome our class students back into the gym.  Our class schedule and grouping will be modified in order to meet safety and capacity guidelines.  Classes will be opened up in small batches and will be filled on a first-come, first-serve basis.  Families may register using the class online registration form, and from there, may manage their account using our Parent Portal.

Students will enter the gym for class through the side door labeled "Entrance".  Anyone entering the gym must have their temperature taken, and sanitize their hands.  Anyone with a temperature of 99.5 or higher will not be permitted to enter the gym.  Masks must be worn by anyone over the age of 2.  During class, students may remove their masks for safety, but must put them back on anytime they leave the gym floor.  Coaches will be wearing masks anytime they need to come within 6' of a gymnast for safety, or spotting purposes.  Only one adult may accompany each student into the gym. No siblings will be allowed in the gym at this time.  Social distancing will be practiced throughout class, and equipment will be cleaned frequently between students.  At the completion of class, students will exit through the main glass lobby door labeled "Exit".  Parents may opt to drop off their child for class, and pick them up at the designated exit door at the completion of class.  While in the gym, all families should abide by the "one-way", and social distancing markers throughout the gym, lobby, and bathroom areas.

Students should arrive for class with the following items in tow:

  • A small gym bag large enough for their shoes, outerwear and the following items

  • Hand sanitizer

  • Water bottle

  • Mask

This bag will remain with the student throughout their class, to reduce the need for frequent trips to the lobby.

No makeups will be offered during the Yellow Phase, to help ensure the effectiveness of contact tracing.  If your child is not feeling well please let us know prior to the start of class and we will put a credit on your account for the missed class. If you contact us after the class has started you will forfeit your credit.

Blue Phase Guidelines

*Effective October 2nd

In the Blue Phase, an expanded class schedule will be offered.  More classes may now also run at the same time with a reduced class size.  The gym will continue to operate at 25% capacity which will include the gym as well as the lobby area.  Parents will be asked to escort their children to the entrance no sooner than 5 minutes before the start of class, and pick them up at the exit door at the completion of class.  During the Blue Phase, we ask that all preschool program students have one adult accompany them to class.

Tuition will be charged to the card on file on the first of the month, for each month the child is enrolled.  Transfers and makeup classes will be allowed in the Blue Phase, pending availability.

All persons entering the gym will be required to pass a wellness exam including a temperature check, and sanitizing of hands.  Anyone with a temperature of 99.5 or higher will not be permitted to enter the gym.  Masks will continue to be required inside the building for anyone over the age of 2.  Gymnasts may remove their masks for safety when on the gym floor, but must put them back on anytime they are leaving the gym practice area.  Coaches will be wearing masks anytime they are within 6 feet of a gymnast, and hands on spotting will be reserved for safety purposes only.  All stations throughout class will be placed 6' apart, and sanitized in between classes. At least 30-minutes will be allocated between classes to allow for thorough cleaning of class areas in between groups.  When navigating the facility, all individuals should observe the one way, and social distancing markers throughout the gym.

All students should arrive with the following items in tow:

  • A small gym bag with enough space for shoes, outerwear and the items listed below

  • Hand sanitizer

  • Water Bottle

  • Mask
